The addition on our building has gone from open beams (with our favorite bible passages written on them) to a functional new Sanctuary and work areas. We are still landscaping and adding finishing touches, but we are excited to be moved into our new home. writing on the open beams, to praying in each newly framed room for its purpose, an impromptu choir hymn in the new practice room and checking out the changes each week, our whole church family has been claiming this new building as our home. The formal dedication was May 23rd by Bishop Marcus Mathews who said "it is a new day!". But it is more than a new building; it is a new hope for how we can be in our neighborhood and in our world as the body of Christ. It is what we will do in our new space, and beyond its walls that has us so excited about the future!
On March 24th, 2009 heavy machinery moved in and began building Faith's future. The initial site work paves the way for Faith's building expansion. The new building that has been 5 years in the making will feature a new worship space, office space and a dedicated choir room.
On Sunday, November 23,2008 a special church conference was held to determine if it is God’s will that we, as a church, should go forward with the building of an addition to our current facility. Through the process of holy conferencing 77% of those present and voting at the meeting gave final approval to the project. With our vote to build we have made a commitment to God and to each other. The road ahead will be exciting, but also at times difficult. No matter what part of the journey we are on, we must be faithful to the commitments we have made. In the next few months there will be a number of things going on in the background. For instance, we will begin the process of creating the final structural drawings, and soliciting bids. We will also be working out the final details with our financing institution, Church Commonwealth. So, while on the surface you may not see much action, there will none the less be a great deal of work going on. There is a great deal to be done as we complete the work that includes bricks and mortar. But, there is a greater work still to be done. We must put as much energy into building our congregation as we do building a structure. In my mind this is the harder work. The research, as well as anecdotal reports, tells us “if we build it, they will come.” This is true. However, we should not be complacent and just wait for“them” to come. Our mission and mandate from Jesus is to “GO and make disciples”, not wait for them. We need to be actively seeking ways to draw people into life changing relationships for Christ. Second, we must be prepared to welcome those who do indeed come. We must make sure that we are prepared to offer Christ’s welcome to all who enter ourdoors. Finally, we must make sure that we have ministries that allow people to live out their call from Christ. As we go forward it is my prayer that we keep everything in the proper perspective. Our work is to build the Kingdom of God, not just a building. Every blessing to you, Pastor Hoyt
