In the thanksgiving prayer during our batismal covenant we say:
"We give thanks for all that God has already given us. As members of the body of Christ and in this congregation of The United Methodist Church, we will faithfully participate in the ministries of the Church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ."
Stewardship is our way of making this promise a reality by caring for our church and thus caring for the world through our church. As the prayer says this is not really about money, but about dedicating ourselves in the way God calls us and with the gifts God gives us so that his communial body can reach out and hold the world in his love.
Prayer requests for the church:
- For people to lead and assist in our ministry teams |

Many corporations in our area offer their employees the opportunity to leverage their non-profit donations. These Matching Gifts programs work by having employees document their charitable contributions, which are then matched, often dollar-for-dollar, by their employer. Some of these programs are restricted to only certain types of non profit organizations, or might specifically exclude matching gifts to religious organizations. However others will only specify that the donor have 501(c)3 non profit status (which Faith UMC does). We have put together a list of the large corporations nationwide that have Matching Gift programs, but the list is constantly changing. These programs are not limited to large companies either. Ask your HR department if your employer has a matching gift program and whether your contributions to Faith UMC are eligible for matching funds. |

Highlighted Ministry Opportunity
This month our Sunday school program starts back after Christmas break. So we will highlight the opportunity to work with our kids: Sunday School Teacher or Assistant
Description: Sunday School is offered for preschool through 5th grade during the church service. We teach bible stories through lessons based on Art, Cooking, Games, Science, Music and Story Telling. Each class has one teacher and an assistant. Materials and lesson plans are provided.
Time Commitment: Teachers or assistants are needed in two week blocks (similar lesson taught to younger and older children in two weeks). Preparation time and teaching time during the service.
Purpose: To demonstrate to our children that they are part of a faith family that cares about them and their relationship to God. To help children understand our basic belief and bible stories. To make connections between generations.
